Tenure-track and non-tenure-line faculty members in the College of Medicine may be granted joint appointments in another academic department of the College of Medicine. The procedure is as follows:
- The Department Chair of the faculty member’s primary department and the Department Chair of the department in which the joint appointment each submit a request for the joint appointment to the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. The request from each Department Chair should state the reason for the joint appointment (e.g., to provide the faculty member with an appointment in a relevant discipline, to formalize ongoing collaborative activities). The request should also include the effective date, and an updated CV for the faculty member must be attached.
- Upon review and approval, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs will notify the faculty member of approval of the joint appointment by letter, with copies to the Department Chairs.
