Penn State College of Medicine
Strategic Plan 2020-2025
Message from the Dean Regarding Strategic Plan Process
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
After much consideration, we feel it is necessary to pause the strategic planning process for the College of Medicine until April 20. The recent developments around COVID-19 have clearly shifted priorities and resource needs to care for our community.
We want to be respectful to the other priorities related to COVID-19 that have risen to the top and to give our faculty, staff and students time to assist in those efforts. We recognize that this date may change based on the needs of our clinicians and staff to respond to COVID-19 and we will continue to evaluate this situation and timing in the coming weeks.
I truly appreciate the time you have invested to date in attending the town hall sessions and offering input and suggestions in the survey that went out to all employees. While I appreciate the need to prioritize the situation at hand, I think it is also important to continue to invest the time in creating our future. I look forward to this process starting up again in April as I was impressed with the enthusiasm and excitement around this effort. It is certainly important to keep this on our radar screen as it is essential to our future.
We have also spoken to the University and have extended our strategic planning process to September 1 to give us a little more time to be thoughtful in our approach.
I value the commitment you have demonstrated through these rapidly changing times and appreciate your willingness to help adapt this process in order to preserve the engagement critical to developing a strong plan for the College of Medicine’s future.
